Afyon Kocatepe University (AKÜ) realized its first academic contact in the South American continent with Colombia within the scope of the Erasmus+ KA171 project. Taking an important step in the continent where communication and cooperation are difficult due to its distance from Turkey and cultural differences, AKÜ signed a new cooperation agreement with Universidad EAN located in Colombia.
Within the scope of the agreement signed through Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih Güngör, Deputy Director of AKÜ International Relations Application and Research Center, Dr. Lecturer Taha Sezer from the Faculty of Technology carried out a teaching mobility, while Dr. Lecturer İbrahim Pazarkaya from Afyon Vocational School carried out a training mobility.
As part of the visit, the academicians also paid a courtesy visit to the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Bogota, Beste Pehlivan Sun. The importance and potential of academic cooperation between Turkey and Colombia were discussed during the meeting.
Within the scope of the agreement between the two universities, David Felipe Espinosa Torres, the representative of the International Relations Office from Universidad EAN, and Prof. Dr. Cesar Hernando Rincon Gonzalez, the Director of the Project Management School, are expected to participate in the International Week events to be held at Afyon Kocatepe University on May 12-16, 2025.
With this collaboration, AKÜ aims to build academic bridges with countries such as Colombia, Uruguay and Chile.
